A New Chapter for Schlafhorst in Growth and Innovation: Joining Rieter

Schlafhorst, a leading brand in the production of automatic yarn winding machines (Autoconer), has taken a significant step toward transformation and innovation by joining the Rieter family, marking the beginning of a new era.

On August 13, 2021, a major agreement worth €300 million was signed between Rieter Holding AG and Saurer Intelligent Technology, under which the businesses of Schlafhorst, Accotex, and Temco were acquired by Rieter. This strategic acquisition, funded through cash and credit lines, was completed within six to nine months. It not only enhanced Rieter’s textile machinery product portfolio but also provided Schlafhorst with increased resources and capabilities to advance its path of growth and development.

Strengthening Market Position and Competitive Edge

This investment enabled Schlafhorst to leverage Rieter’s resources and expertise to introduce more advanced and competitive products to the market. The collaboration also allowed Schlafhorst to expand its service and product range, solidifying its position in global markets. Additionally, Accotex, specializing in elastomer cots and aprons for spinning machines, and Temco, known for its godet solutions for filament machines, also benefitted from Rieter’s backing, accelerating their growth and innovation trajectories.

A Vision for Collaboration and Impact on the Textile Industry

Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the three businesses achieved a combined revenue of €142 million in 2020. In prior years, their revenues reached €260 million in 2018 and €235 million in 2019, highlighting their significant potential and the strategic importance of Rieter’s investment in these key brands.

The partnership between Schlafhorst and Rieter, two reputable brands, paves the way for greater innovation in the textile industry, enabling the introduction of advanced automatic yarn winding machines and novel technical solutions. The integration of resources and expertise has allowed both brands to deliver a distinctive and innovative experience to the market, creating a lasting transformation in the textile sector.
